About Tony Vida
Tony Vida, professionally known as Antonio Z. Barajas, began his filmmaking journey at the age of 19 when he wrote his first screenplay, The Destroyer of Legions. Its ambitious visual effects were beyond what was readily available to an independent filmmaker at the time. He followed it with Death and Transfiguration and Angels with Dirty Faces.
Determined to understand filmmaking from the inside, Vida pursued work as a background actor on productions such as Born on the Fourth of July and Appaloosa. His goal was not simply to appear on camera, but to observe professional film sets and learn firsthand how motion pictures are made.
He continued his education through independent film study and later attended Richland College, where he took courses in stage lighting and stage directing.
Vida began attracting attention in 2004 while developing and producing The Duel, a film he wrote and intended to direct. He has since produced short films, including "Darfur", "The Prophet’s Song" and "An Excerpt From".
An Expansive Slate of Original Stories
Over the years, Vida has developed an extensive slate of screenplays spanning action, adventure, drama, primal drama, comedy, Westerns, surreal horror, television, and CGI animation.
His original properties include:
-
The Destroyer of Legions
-
Death and Transfiguration
-
Angels with Dirty Faces
-
Double Agent
-
Trouble: The Ballad of Robert Colter
-
Duel in the Dark
-
Uz
-
Mexican/American — Comedy Series
-
Hell Followed with Him — Western
-
An untitled surreal-horror screenplay
-
Atonement
-
The Prophet’s Song
-
Sea Kingdom — CGI-Animated Feature
-
With a substantial collection of original properties, Vida has established the creative foundation upon which to build a motion-picture studio. He has also developed a network of experienced industry colleagues and relationships with Hollywood distributors. Together, the professionals within his network bring more than 100 years of combined filmmaking experience.
What makes Antonio capable of bringing these projects to life is his ability to surround himself with talented and experienced people who share his commitment to the work. Most importantly, the original vision behind these stories belongs to him.
When pioneering studio founders such as Louis B. Mayer, the Warner brothers, Carl Laemmle, Adolph Zukor, and William Fox began building their companies, the modern motion-picture business was still being invented. They learned through experience, determination, experimentation, and risk.
Antonio Z. Barajas begins his journey with the benefit of more than a century of filmmaking history behind him. He understands the creative and business challenges ahead—and possesses the vision, preparation, original properties, and determination necessary to build something lasting.
